Welcome from the Chamber President
“Building up Business, Bridging our Communities” is more than a slogan—it reflects the heart of our mission at the Southern Virginia Regional Chamber of Commerce. We are intentional in our efforts to bring community partners together for the betterment of the entire region. Simply stated, we help people connect. Through education, energy, and alignment, we bring together a diverse group of leaders committed to advancing Southern Virginia and strengthening the communities we serve. That’s the work. And it matters.
The Southern Virginia Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud of its deep, community-based legacy and equally excited about the future. Our member businesses continue to lead the way, and we are grateful for their commitment and partnership. Our goal is simple: create an environment where every member has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
Throughout the year, we support our businesses through a wide range of networking, advertising, educational, and social opportunities. We also collaborate closely with other local Chambers to expand opportunities for relationship-building and regional impact. Our Chamber office is always available to those seeking information or resources related to Colonial Heights, Petersburg, and Dinwiddie County, and we welcome new ideas on how we can continue to better serve our members and communities.
Our commitment to the region is reflected in the signature programs and events we host each year, all designed to drive growth and celebrate our community:
- Monthly Networking & Education — including luncheons, business success classes, and business roundtables in each locality
- Signature Community Events — such as the Tri-Cities Home Garden & Craft Show, the Annual People’s Choice Awards: Best of the Best Businesses, the John Mazza Fly-In and Car Show, and the Festival of Grapes and Hops
- Professional Recognition — highlighted by our Annual Dinner honoring the Top 40 Under 40 leaders
- Business Support — including ribbon cuttings and our annual Pitch Competition
- Giving Back — awarding $9,000 in scholarships, hosting the Annual Reverse Raffle, Telecommunicator Appreciation, Soldier Christmas Bags, and the Annual Turkey Trot
Partnerships with our school systems remain a core priority. Programs such as the Teacher and Staff Appreciation Breakfast, scholarships, job shadowing, and the High School Career Fair continue to thrive. Our members generously share their time, talent, and resources because they understand that today’s students are tomorrow’s business and community leaders.
Colonial Heights, Petersburg, and Dinwiddie County are outstanding places to do business and wonderful communities in which to live. I encourage you to become actively engaged with the Chamber—review our calendars, attend events, volunteer, and support fellow member businesses whenever possible. Local investment strengthens our economy, our schools, and our future.
